Our mission

Indigenous Power Coalition’s mission is to advance economic reconciliation by flipping the conventional script on Indigenous project involvement from consulted Rights-holders to project proponents and leaders.

Shifting this power dynamic in the electricity sector will not only open the door for increased Indigenous equity and ownership, it will also increase autonomy over decision-making including who partners in a project and how a project gets built.

The electricity sector is an essential venue for economic reconciliation. Indigenous leadership needs to be understood as the new table stakes for project development.
— Kwatuuma Cole Sayers, Executive Director, Indigenous Power Coalition

Our approach

Indigenous Power Coalition plays two key roles.

  1. Identifying potential projects and convening Nations around clean electricity infrastructure opportunities, creating the the collaborative space for coalition building.

  2. Support informed decision-making by bringing technical, legal and financial expertise to the table to provide Nations with decision-useful information about benefits and risk.
